Mentor Coaching

I'm Andrea Weldon. I'm a coach, mentor coach, facilitator, eating disorder specialist and psychotherapist.

My work has taken me into a variety of settings, from individual and family support in eating disorder services, to coaching, psychotherapy, professional development and community based programmes. Although these roles might sound quite different, they share a common thread: a curiosity about people, the experiences that shape us, and what helps us move forward.

I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding, and a space to explore our experiences, question what we have come to believe and discover what feels right for us.

My approach is informed by my background in coaching and my psychotherapy training. I'm interested in the relationship between our thoughts, feelings and experiences, and in the ways our past experiences can influence how we experience the present. I am equally interested in the importance of the therapeutic and coaching relationship, the value of being genuinely heard, and the difference it can make to have someone alongside us without feeling the need to have everything figured out.

My work in eating disorders and body image is informed by fourteen years of professional experience, and my own lived experience. This has shaped my understanding of how complex our relationship with food, our bodies and ourselves can be, and how important it is to look beyond behaviours to understand the person experiencing them.

Professionally, I hold a BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy, a diploma in Life & Business coaching, a BPS recognised diploma in eating disorder practitioner skills, the ICF Professional Coach credential (PCC) and the ICF Mentor Coach Specialisation (MCS).

Qualifications only tell part of the story. I'm a firm believer in continued learning, ethical practice and professional accountability. What matters to me is understanding people beyond the labels, the behaviours and difficulties they bring with them, and recognising there is always more to a person than the problem they are facing.
